Message from President Rotary Club of Navi mumbai - Rtn. Ajay Jhalani

Dear Friends,

John Up dike said, "Dreams come true without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them." The theme for this year is "Make Dreams Real", and that, as your President for 2008-2009 will be my endeavour. I believe that in order to achieve anything, one must first have vision, a goal. ..a dream. Then, one must possess the perseverance, determination and will power to turn that dream into reality. One must also possess resilience and the ability to overcome any obstacles that may come one's way. We have many dreams for this coming year. While we will continue some of the excellent projects started by Immediate Past President Rtn. Surekha Mhatre, we will also embark upon some new innovative projects this year .

To begin with, in the field of improving education, we are planning a mega 'fund raising event for night classes for needy students, and later, books and special classes by retired IAS officers for students appearing for Civil Services examinations.

Then, through ASMITA, we are planning to go back to our cultural roots, and revive Indian Classical music which is becoming obsolete with the advent of Bollywood and pop music.

Water water every where, not any drop to drink, said "Coleridge. One of our projects will try to prove these lines untrue and focus on getting pure drinking water where it is scarce.

Child mortality is a major issue that is affecting us today, especially in India where the rate of child mortality is increasing at a phenomenal rate. We plan to launch awareness campaigns regarding child mortality , specially targeting young parents who do not have access to basics knowledge regarding nutrition and sanitation.

Through Navprerna, we plan to revive yoga classes which have gained immense popularity in the past few years. My congratulations to Rtn. Surekha Mhatre, and her team for an excellent performance during the year 2007-08.

With the highly dedicated, motivated and hardworking team we have, and with your cooperation and efforts, we will strive to turn these dreams into reality. As Ward, William Arthur said, "If you can imagine it, you can create it. If you can dream it, you can become it." Friends, together, we shall make the year 2008-09 a successful and memorable one for the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai.

Yours in Rotary,

Rtn. Ajay Jhalani.

President 2008-09

4 Way Test
"Of the things we think, say or do:
Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?"
