Bus Donation to Asmita School

Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai has sponsored a 13 seater Tata Winger Bus for Asmita School, a School for Special children which is being run in the slums of Turbhe & Ghansoli.

The handing over ceremony took place on Children''s Day (14th November) at the Rotary Centre, Sector-6,Vashi.

Our Beloved M. P. Dr. Sanjeev Naik was the Chief Guest.

District Governor RID 3140 Dr Jayant Kulkarni graced the occasion as Guest of honour.

Dr. Naik lauded the magnificent Service rendered to the community by the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai. Dr. Jayant Kulkarni termed it as a landmark project for the club. The Ceremony was attended by large number of persons/social workers from Navi Mumbai.

Earlier the Rotary Club had donated school uniforms to the children of the school and helped them by buying various hand made items made by the kids.

One of the major problems faced by the school was transportation of the kids from home to school and to attend various activities. Now the Children are being ferried in a Maruti Omni, which is not a school bus and cannot carry more than 5 kids.

This 13 seater Tata Winger Bus, will mitigate their problem of transporting kids.

The total cost of the Bus is Rs.6.5 Lacs, which was collected from donations from fellow Rotarians and their friends. The most heartening thing to note is that almost the entire amount has been raised internally and without any corporate sponsorship.

The trustees of Asmita School profusely thanked the Rotary Club for their grand gesture.
