Message- President Rotary Club Navi Mumbai-14th Nov' 2010

at the Bus Donation programme,

Honourable MP Dr.Sanjeev Naik, Rotary District Governor Dr.Jayant Kulkarni, Members of the Press, our Partners in service Inner wheel President Nafisa, Rotaract IPP-Vaibhav Shinde, President Har Kirat of our freshly sponsored Rotarct Club of Saraswati College, Khargar, Fellow Rotarians, First Lady,Anns & Friends. Welcome to the dream came true of all members of the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai. The handing over of the School Bus. This dream was conceived exactly an year ago by our IPP Rotarian Vijay Adhikari & it has been superbly executed by our team of Rotarians Led by Vijay himself, Anand, Rakesh Gupta, Surekha, Adv.Paul Poulose & Prem.

The most heartening thing is that almost the entire amount of Rs.6.5 Lacs has been raised internally, from the contributions of Rotarians & their friends. We shall be honouring the donors with a donor certificate later in the programme.

Now a word about our club & its activities. Well, we are a 33 year old pioneer club of Navi Mumbai with 45 Members & What do we do build communities & bridge continents. At this Rotary centre, our member Rotarian Dr.Mohan Chitnis runs a charity dispensary, Rotarian Sriram Athri conducts free counselling sessions. We run sewing & mehandi classes. We provide micro credit to the needy. Last year we gave Rs.5,000/- to a vegetable vendor which has been fully repaid and given again to flower vendor. Also this year Rs.28,000/- has been given to a final year engineering student. Keeping in mind the saying that a healthy mind can live in a healthy body only, we conduct yoga classes too.

We arrange lectures on common topics naturopathy, taxation, Right to information and self developmental topics like “: how to exceed your customers expectations and the art of negotiation”

Child is the future of Man. Rotarian Rajiv Maniar organized a carrer coounscelling programme for the students of modern school & Rotarian Laxmi conducted a RYPEN Rotary Youth Enrichment Programme for Personality Development for children of Swami Vivekananda School, Sanpada.

Rotarian Dr.Kamal Agarwal & Rotarian N.P.Gupta are providing a clean drinking water facility to Swami Vivekananda School at Kopri Village.

Rotarians Nand Kishore Joshi & Vishwanthan have been instrumental in our club adopting a village-Vithalwadi near Mahad. We are assisting in a mid day Meal Scheme at the School & are 50% financing construction of 10 Toilet Blocks at the Village. Finance for this project has been arranged from Foreign shores by Rotarian Manoharan.

Rotarian Surekha Mhatre organized giving away of 3 vocational service awards to citizens of Navi Mumbai for Excellence in their professionlike college administration, yoga training & police work. We support NMMC in Polio Immunization Programme by giving publicity to the national Immunization Days & the Rotary Centre is one of the centres for the Vaccine administration.
The Club has also sponsored an exchange of one student between Navi Mumbai & Denmark. Navi Mumbai Resident Neha Suruwade has gone to Denmark for 1 year of studies and Christian Mullar has come from Denmark for studies here.

Well friends, Rotary is not all work & no play. We meet once a month with families for fellowship which could be watching a movie in Gold Class at Adlabs, or Sunday Brunch at Hotel Royal Orchid Roof Top or Diwali Celebrations at the Rotary Centre.

We are one of the very few Rotary Clubs who have their own Rotary Centre & our centre has come a long way thru the hard work & commitment of our members. Dream Big is our motto & now we dream to take this place to further heights by having a multi specialty clinic with a free ambulance service to help the needy with medical aid which is getting increasingly unaffordable.

With this Aim in mind, Rotarians Anand, Ajay Jhalani, Rjesh Shah, Uday Kenkre & Prem have taken a lead in organizing a fund raising programme. Jagjit Shingh nite on 12th January next year at Vishnu Das Bhave Auditorium & I am Sure that once again the Rotary Club of Navi Mumbai shall rise to the occasion & make this dream also a reality.

Now, over to Anand for the highlights of the Bus Project.

Working together can create wonders.

Looking forward to a great Rotary Year.

Yours in Rotary

Growing- By Rtn Sriram Athri   Malaysia & Mauritius-Rtn Rakesh Gupta

Some of us define growing as adding years to our life. That happens by default. True growing happens only when we add life to our years. This growing is by design and not default. What do we mean by adding life to our years? In this vastness called Universe, you and I are here for only 80 years, give and take 10. That is miniscule. How has it been to yourself and to the Universe around?... more >>
