Message- President Rotary Club Navi Mumbai ---- July' 2008

Rtn Ajay Jhalani

Dear Members,

John Up dike said, "Dreams come true without that possibility, nature would not incite us to have them." The theme for this year is "Make Dreams Real", and that, as your President for 2008-2009 will be my endeavour. I believe that in order to achieve anything, one must first have vision, a goal. ..a dream. Then, one must possess the perseverance, determination and will power to turn that dream into reality. One must also possess resilience and the ability to overcome any obstacles that may come one's way. We have many dreams for this coming year.

Dear Friends,

To address you as president exactly for the last time for Rotary year 2007 -08, for me it is an occasion that has mixed feelings.

The fact that president ship has demanded fairly good work at times, I must admit, I am not very happy that my president ship has come to an end.

Although as a president I had to shoulder lot of work and responsibility , but there was genuine pleasure in having an excellent team of my fellow Rotarians and Rotary Anns.

Looking back the list of all past presidents and their contribution towards club, and also being the first lady president of the club, in the beginning I was not much confident whether I will able to do justices this new responsibility. But with your constant support and cooperation, I manage, at least not to damage the reputation of our club.

We have done substantially good community service during the Rotary year 2007-08. Added 10 new members, Club participated in al1 four avenues of service and TRF. Our club launched our website.

Donated School fees worth Rs 34000 to needy children. Total contribution to TRF is $6000.ie average $100 per member. This makes our club "EREY" club which is one step enhancement towards The Rotary Foundation. Landmark of the year is Fund Raising Program-Musical evening of Hindi songs: The Kapoor Brothers At Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium. Raised net Rs. 2.25 Lakhs.

All this was possible because of you all. On Behalf of club, I acknowledge and appreciate all of you for your contribution

I was very fortunate to have Dr Ulhas Kolhatkar as District Governor, who always appreciated good work done by our club and corrected when needed I must not forget the efforts taken by our district to train us for better performance, Especially Assistant governor Dr Pramod Pandit, who was always available when our club needed his guidance.

Once again I thank all the Rotarians, Rotary Anns for their support during Rotary year 2007 -08 and I wish all the very best to President elect Rtn Ajay.

Regards

Surekha Mhatre

President 2007-08

Growing- By Rtn Sriram Athri   Malaysia & Mauritius-Rtn Rakesh Gupta

Some of us define growing as adding years to our life. That happens by default. True growing happens only when we add life to our years. This growing is by design and not default. What do we mean by adding life to our years? In this vastness called Universe, you and I are here for only 80 years, give and take 10. That is miniscule. How has it been to yourself and to the Universe around?... more >>

Rtn. Rakesh tours Genting hilands, Malaysia and Mauritius along with his family in summer holidays, shares his experience with us

We reached here for a sojourn in the first week of May, to enjoy the beautiful landscapes and beaches, after a 4 day halt in the hi-tech city of Kuala Lumpur... more >>
